Afternoon tea recipes
May 6, 2024
Finally, the sun is coming out! With the half term break on the horizon, we thought we’d theme this article around afternoon tea… Because who doesn’t love three tiers of food? Our clever team has put together some recipes for a scrumptious afternoon tea using just three of our mixes. More details are below.
Here, we have freshly made ciabatta sandwiches, homemade scones, and two cakes: a Nectarine & Blueberry Upside Down Cake, and a Strawberry & Diplomat Cream Cake.
You can replicate the above by using the following mixes:
– Ciabatta Bread Mix for the sandwiches (available in Sainsbury’s and Booths)
– Scone Mix (available in Booths, Grain, and packs of 5 from our website)
– Two Madeira Cake Mixes (available in Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose, Ocado and Co-op)
Nectarine & Blueberry Upside Down Cake
Whether or not we think peaches and nectarines are one and the same, they’re both delicious on the inside. Do you know what makes a nectarine even more delicious? Pairing it with some ripe and plump blueberries and whacking them on a fluffy sponge cake.
Strawberry & Diplomat Cream Cake
Using our classic Madeira Cake Mix, we have taken inspiration from the traditional French Fraisier Cake. The sponges need to be thin. If the sponges are heavy, the cream will not hold in place. Hence why we are using only half of the mix.
With this recipe, you will undoubtedly impress your guests! It is a lengthy process, but it’s worth the time and relatively easy to make.
Follow the packet instructions to create the scones and the ciabatta for the sandwiches.
