Hot off the grill: baking for BBQ season

Summer is here, and it’s the perfect time to fire up the grill, gather family and friends, and enjoy some seasonal BBQ food! Our talented team has put together some new BBQ-themed baking recipes, which we’re thrilled to share with you.

Pitta bread

Our homemade pitta bread recipe is a breeze to make, requiring just water, oil, and the bread mix. It’s so simple that you’ll feel like a pro in the kitchen. And the best part? It’s freezer-friendly, so you can prepare it in advance for your summer get-together. Fill it with mouthwatering BBQ meats and salad for a truly satisfying meal.

Baking on the BBQ

Have you ever tried baking bread on the barbecue? It can be done!

Once you’ve cooked your meat, use the BBQ heat to bake your risen dough. Place your tin or foil on the barbecue and bake (under a closed lid) for 30 minutes until the loaf is browned and shrinking slightly away from the sides of the tin or foil. Two ciabatta loaves from our Ciabatta Bread Mix (available in Sainsbury’s & Ocado) are in this photo.

June customer highlights

In April and May, we ran a competition, offering five winners our entire collection of bread and cake mixes. Anyone who sent in a photo or video using one of our cake mixes would automatically be entered into a prize draw.

Thank you very much to everyone who entered. The team thoroughly enjoyed seeing your creative bakes and hearing about how much some of you enjoy using our mixes. Below are some customer photos we received (please do continue sending them in!).

Delicious rolls made with our Cheddar Cheese & Onion Bread Mix. Ideal for summer picnics! Find this bread mix in Asda.

Moist raspberry and almond slices made with our Madeira Cake Mix and three teaspoons of almond extract. The cake was sandwiched with raspberry jam, and topped with thick water icing.

Our Madeira Cake Mix is available in Asda, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, and Co-op.

Look at this beautiful focaccia baked by mother and daughter with our Garlic & Rosemary Focaccia Bread Mix. With our focaccia mix, there’s no need to rest the dough for hours. It’ll come out all lovely and fluffy, bursting with the garlic and rosemary flavours. Find it in Sainsbury’s and Ocado.
